Symbiobacterium Ohno et al. 2000, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Symbiobacterium thermophilum Ohno et al. 2000.
Etymology: Gr. adj. symbios, living together, symbiotic; L. neut. n. bacterium, a small rod; N.L. neut. n. Symbiobacterium, symbiotic small rod, referring to the growth dependence upon co-culture with other bacteria.

Etymology: N.L. gen. n. terraclitae, of Terraclita, a zoological genus name, referring to the isolation of the type strain from the barnacle species Terraclita japonica.

Etymology: Gr. n. thermê, heat: N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. neut. adj. thermophilum, heat-loving, referring to the optimum growth at a high temperature.
