Type species: ¤ Thermanaerovibrio acidaminovorans (Guangsheng et al. 1997) Baena et al. 1999.
Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; Gr. pref. an, not; Gr. n. aer aeros, air; N.L. masc. n. vibrio, that vibrates; N.L. masc. n. Thermanaerovibrio, a thermophilic vibrating anaerobe.
