Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; L. pref. de-, from; L. neut. n. sulfur, sulfur; Gr. masc. n. bios, life; N.L. neut. (sic) n. Thermodesulfobium (sic), a thermophilic organism that reduces a sulfur compound.
