Type species: ¤ Verticiella sediminum Vandamme 2016.
Etymology: L. n. vertex, whirlpool, vortex; -iella, dim. ending; N.L. fem. n. Verticiella, named after the South Pacific Gyre where the first isolate of this genus was isolated.
