Type species: ¤ Zavarzinella formosa Kulichevskaya et al. 2009.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Zavarzinella, named in honour of the famous Russian microbiologist George A. Zavarzin, for his outstanding contribution to increasing our knowledge of microbial diversity.
