Type species: ¤ Zymophilus raffinosivorans Schleifer et al. 1990.
Etymology: Gr. n. zumê, leaven, yeast; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. masc. n. Zymophilus, yeast-lover.

Zymophilus paucivorans Schleifer et al. 1990, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also Global Catalogue of Microorganisms) AA1 = ATCC 49689= DSM 20756.

Etymology: L. adj. paucus, few, little; L. v. vorare, to eat, to devour; N.L. part. adj. paucivorans, utilizing (devouring) relatively few carbohydrates.
