🙄 This taxon name is occasionally misprinted (or affected by an OCR error) in some sources as: "Chrqoeoccitliaceae".
❗ Chroococcidiaceae is the correct name instead if this family is regarded as a separate family (i.e., if its nomenclatural type is not assigned to another family whose name is validly published, legitimate and not rejected and has priority).
🧍 Silva (1980) notes that according to Drouet and Daily (1956, p. 146), the type specimen of the type species of Chroococcidium represents palmelloid flagellates. Silva (1980) further comments "Notwithstanding, Bourrelly (1970, p. 333) applied Chroococcidiaceae to a family of blue-green algae, including Myxosarcina (syn. Pseudocapsa, Endospora) and Chroococcopsis (syn. Chroococcidium).".Publication:
