The family name Geodermatophilaceae was first published by Normand et al. , but a formal description and the designation of the type genus were not included, thus making the name not validly published. On 31 July 2002, the Judicial Commission  decided that an erratum should be published in IJSEM to validly publish the name Geodermatophilaceae with Geodermatophilus as type genus of the family. In 2006, Normand  validly publishes the family name Geodermatophilaceae.Publication:
