🙄 This taxon name is occasionally misprinted (or affected by an OCR error) in some sources as: "Plenrococcaceae"; "Pleumcoccaceae"; "Pleurococeaceae"; "Pleuroeocaceae"; "Pleuroeoccaceae".
❗ Pleurococcaceae is the correct name instead if this family is regarded as a separate family (i.e., if its nomenclatural type is not assigned to another family whose name is validly published, legitimate and not rejected and has priority).
🧍 According to Silva (1980) based on Protococcoideae Gruppe Pleurococcaceae Klebs (1883, p. 342). Silva (1980) also notes: "Because of misinterpretation of Pleurococcus, Pleurococcaceae is traditionally and erroneously applied to Chlorophyceae. According to Drouet and Daily (1956, pp. 34, 46), the type specimen of the lectotype species (P. communis Meneghini) is representative of Anacystis montana (Lightfoot) Drouet et Daily in the Chroococcaceae.".Publication:
