Etymology: Elain.el’la. N.L. fem. dim. n. Elainella, The genus epithet is derived from Elaine, The Lady of the Lake, who lived in a castle that was beneath a lake surrounding island of Avalon. Elaine gave Arthur the magic sword Excalibur.
