Etymology: Guy.par.ke’ri.a. N.L. fem. n. Guyparkeria, named to honour Mr Cecil David ‘Guy’Parker (1912- 1981), Australian microbiologist who made significant advances in the understanding of sulfur oxidation, concrete corrosion and the taxonomy of the sulfur bacteria
