  • For the type species of this genus another name is in use, which is affiliated with the genus Treponema Schaudinn 1905 (Approved Lists 1980). Publication: Graber JR, Leadbetter JR, Breznak JA. Description of Treponema azotonutricium sp. nov. and Treponema primitia sp. nov., the first spirochetes isolated from termite guts. Appl Environ Microbiol 2004; 70:1315-1320.
  • The terminology used by the authors is in line with many other taxonomic studies and does not negatively affect their main results; some improvements may nevertheless be possible.
