Methylothermus Tsubota et al. 2005 is not validly published because the type species is not validly published. — The etymology cited in the paper by Tsubota et al. 2005 is the following: N.L. n. methyl the methyl group; N.L. masc. subst. from Gr. adj. thermos hot; Methylothermus methyl-using thermotolerant organism. However, with such an etymology the correct name should be Methylithermus. — The gender of the genus name is not provided in the paper by Tsubota et al. 2005. However, according to rules of Latin and latinization, Methylothermus must be in the masculine gender.Publication:
