(2018) stated that "Supermatrix analyses [...] confirmed Atopobium as paraphyletic, whereas monophyly of Olsenella was unresolved due to the uncertain location of O. scatoligenes". The supplementary material of Nouioui et al. (2018) shows Olsenella umbonata forming the sister group of Olsenella uli with maximum support. In contrast, Fig. 2 in Zgheib et al. (2021) does not show support for Olsenella umbonata not belonging to the clade that includes Olsenella uli.
