Etymology: Per.si.ci.ta.le.a. L. neut. adj. persicum, a peach; L. adj. suff. -icus -a -um, suffix used with the sense of belonging to; L. fem. n. talea, a slender staff, a rod; N.L. fem. n. Persicitalea, peach-coloured rod, because the colonies are peach-coloured
