Notes:
For the type species of this genus another name is in use, which is affiliated with the genus Rhizorhapis Francis et al. 2014.Publication:

This taxon name is occasionally misprinted in some sources as: "Rhizomollas"; "Rhzzomonas".
The BRCs most frequently used for deposits in this group are: DSM: 1; JCM: 1; CIP: 1; NBRC: 1; NCPPB: 1; LMG: 1; IFO: 1; ICMP: 1; ATCC: 1.
Rhizomonas Orla-Jensen 1909 nom. rej. and Rhizomonas van Bruggen et al. 1990 nom. rej. are later homonyms of a genus name with standing in the zoological (algal) nomenclature: Rhizomonas Kent 1880. — Crook M. Personal communication, 2021-08-19.
Pittman et al. (1991) suggested the abbreviation "RZMN" for this genus name but this does not appear to be of practical relevance any longer.Publication:

Rejected name (Opinion 14); later homonym of a protozoan genus Rhizomonas. The name Rhizomonas has been placed in the list of "Rejected names of genera and subgenera of bacteria (nomina generum et subgenerum bacteriorum rejicienda)" by the Judicial Opinion 14.Publication:
Judicial Commission. Judicial Opinion No. 14. Int J Syst Bacteriol 1954; 4:156-158.
The name Rhizomonas is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of a name of a taxon of protozoa (Rhizomonas Kent 1880).Publication:

The type species of Rhizomonas van Bruggen et al. 1990 has been transferred to the genus Sphingomonas Yabuuchi et al. 1990. According to Rule 37a, the name Rhizomonas would have to be changed to Sphingomonas. However, Rhizomonas is not a correct name and reference to Sphingomonas is not requisite.Publication:
