Etymology: sy.zy’gi.i. N.L. gen. neut. n. syzygii, of the genus Syzygium; from N.L. neut. n. Syzygium, referring to the name of the fruit of the Malay rose apple (Syzygium malaccense) from which the type strain was isolated
