Etymology: spei.bo’nae. L. fem. n. spes (gen. spei), hope; L. masc. adj. bonus, good; N.L. gen. fem. n. speibonae, of good hope, to indicate Cape Town, the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, the source of the soil from which the type strain was isolated
