Etymology: van.dam’me.i. N.L. gen. masc. n. vandammei, of Vandamme, in honour of Professor Peter A. R. Vandamme a Belgian microbiologist, who was the first to describe the genus Arcobacter and in recognition of his contributions to the taxonomy of this genus, and indeed the wider class Epsilonproteobacteria
