L. comp. masc./fem. adj. prior, superior; L. masc. adj. superbus, proud, from Priory Pride, the nickname of St. Andrew’s Schools, Honolulu, Hawaii, where the strain’s genome was first sequenced; N.L. gen. fem. n. prioriisuperbiae, [probably better: priorisuperbiae]
