Etymology: u.na’mae. N.L. gen. fem. n. unamae, arbitrary name formed from UNAM, acronym for Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México. This name was chosen to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the University, which occurred in the same year as the first isolation of the species (2001)
