Etymology: pam’pae. N.L. fem. n. pampa, pampa (from Quechuan noun pampa); N.L. gen. fem. n. pampae, of pampa, the grassland plains of temperate South America, especially Argentina, where the soil samples were obtained from which the type strain of the species was isolated
