Etymology: peck’i.i. N.L. gen. masc. n. peckii, of Peck, named in memory and in honour of the biochemist Professor Harry D. Peck, Jr (Department of Biochemistry, University of Georgia, Athens, USA), for his great contribution to our knowledge of the biochemistry and physiology of SRB (mainly the discovery of oxidative phosphorylation in anaerobic micro-organisms in 1960)
