Etymology: per.si.ci’na. L. neut. adj. persicum, peach; L. adj. suff. -inus -a -um, suffix used with the sense of belonging to; N.L. fem. adj. persicina, belonging to a peach, peach colored, because of the pinkish or peach-colored pigment of this organism
