🥇 Nomenclatural type of the genus Marinicola Yoon et al. 2005.Publication:
Yoon JH, Kang SJ, Lee CH, Oh TK. Marinicola seohaensis gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from sea water of the Yellow Sea, Korea. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2005; 55:859-863.
⏲ According to Nedashkovskaya et al. (2008), this species is a later heterotypic synonym of Roseivirgaehrenbergii Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005.Publication:
Nedashkovskaya OI, Kim SB, Lysenko AM, Kalinovskaya NI, Mikhailov VV. Reclassification of Roseivirga seohaensis (Yoon et al. 2005) Lau et al. 2006 as a later synonym of Roseivirga ehrenbergii Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005 and emendation of the species description. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2008; 58:1194-1197.
❗ Marinicolaseohaensis is the correct name instead if this species is regarded as a separate species (i.e., if its nomenclatural type is not assigned to another species whose name is validly published, legitimate and not rejected and has priority) within a separate genus Marinicola.
😷 The risk group for Germany has been imported on 2023-10-29. The full classification is: risk group = 1. — If in doubt, use the risk group given in the regulations for your country and, if these are not available, use the risk group given in the catalogue of the culture collection from which you have obtained or intend to obtain the strain.

🧍 According to Nedashkovskaya et al. (2005) and Lau et al. (2006) Marinicola soehaensis should be placed into the genus Roseivirga.Publication:
Nedashkovskaya OI, Kim SB, Lee DH, Lysenko AM, Shevchenko LS, Frolova GM, Mikhailov VV, Lee KH, Bae KS. Roseivirga ehrenbergii gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel marine bacterium of the phylum 'Bacteroidetes', isolated from the green alga Ulva fenestrata. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2005; 55:231-234.
🧍 Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005 found that the level of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between Marinicola seohaensis SW-152 (the type strain of the type species of the genus Marinicola) and Roseivirga ehrenbergii KMM 6017 (the type strain of the type species of the genus Roseivirga) is 99.8%. On the basis of the phylogenetic relationship Nedashkovskaya et al. propose that the genus Marinicola be a later heterotypic synonym of the genus Roseivirga. According to these authors, this conclusion is supported by the results of genomic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic analyses, which revealed many common features between members of the genera Marinicola and Roseivirga. Nedashkovskaya et al. provide an emended description of the genus Roseivirga to include the phenotypic characters of Marinicola seohaensis. However, Nedashkovskaya et al. do not make a formal proposal to reclassify Marinicola seohaensis. The formal reclassification of Marinicola seohaensis in the genus Roseivirga Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005 was proposed by Lau et al. 2006 (see below) [2].Publication:
Nedashkovskaya OI, Kim SB, Lysenko AM, Park MS, Mikhailov VV, Bae KS, Park HY. Roseivirga echinicomitans sp. nov., a novel marine bacterium isolated from the sea urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius, and emended description of the genus Roseivirga. Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2005; 55:1797-1800.
