🧍 Mycoplasma haemomuris Neimark et al. 2002 is illegitimate because it is a homotypic synonym of the type species of Haemobartonella but Haemobartonella has priority over Mycoplasma. The name is a revision of the former classification as "Candidatus Mycoplasma haemomuris" and may not even be validly published.

🧍 In 2001, Neimark et al. proposed the transfer of Haemobartonella muris to the genus Mycoplasma with the Candidatus status: "Candidatus Mycoplasma haemomuris" Neimark et al. 2001. The Candidatus designation is for new, incompletely described taxa, in order to give them a provisional status; changing validly published names to Candidatus would lose their standing in nomenclature. So, Neimark et al. revise "Candidatus Mycoplasma haemomuris" to Mycoplasma haemomuris nom. nov. — For the transfer of Haemobartonella muris (Mayer 1921) Tyzzer and Weinman 1939 (Approved Lists 1980) to the genus Mycoplasma Nowak 1929 (Approved Lists 1980) it is necessary to substitute a new specific epithet to produce Mycoplasma haemomuris because the name Mycoplasma muris McGarrity et al. 1983 already existed [Rules 34a and 41a].
