🧍 McGenity et al. 1998 write "We propose that Halobacterium salinarium NCIMB 786, Halobacterium trapanicum NCIMB 784 and Halobacterium halobium NCIMB 777 are placed into the new genus Natrinema and, as other halobacteria have the specific epithets "salinar(i)um, "trapanicum" and "halobium", it as been necessary to change these". However, according to Rule 34a, Natrinema pellirubrum is a new species, not a nomen novum as proposed by McGenity et al. 1998. — The strain NCIMB 786 was originally described (but not formally proposed) as Halobacterium cutirubrum subsp. proteolyticum by Formisano (1962).Publication:
