Etymology: sa.ha.ri.en’se. N.L. neut. adj. sahariense, The name of the genus refers to the morphological similarity and phylogenetic relationship to the genus Acaryochloris, but the species is clearly genetically distant and separated in different clusters. The name of the species refers to its presence in the Sahara Desert. [probably better: saharense]
