Unfortunately, this is yet another paper that misrepresents prokaryotic nomenclature. The authors claim that the alleged problem arises because "the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes (https://www.the-icsp.org) has issued an official, top-down change at the request of taxonomists who may have no working relationship with the organism" but they provide no evidence for this assertion. As the relevant sources indicate, this is not how the ICSP operates. There are no ICSP decisions on taxonomy, whether top-down or otherwise.Publication:
