Name: Rickettsia asembonensis Maina et al. 2016
Etymology: a.sem.bo.nen’sis. N.L. fem. adj. asembonensis, from Asembo, a part of Siaya County, western Kenya, where the Ctenocephalides felis fleas that yielded the first isolate were collected (Luce-Fedrow et al., 2015)
