🧍 According to Muramatsu et al. 2007, 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis suggests that the genera Ruegeria and Silicibacter are closely related and should be integrated into one genus (i.e. Ruegeria Uchino et al. 1999 which has priority over Silicibacter Petursdottir and Kristjansson 1999). However, their differential phenotypic properties do not support this unification. Consequently the authors retain the two species of Silicibacter (Silicibacter lacuscaerulensis Petursdottir and Kristjansson 1999, and Silicibacter pomeroyi González et al. 2003) in their paper.Publication:
