Etymology:ya.noi.ku’yae.N.L. gen. fem. n.yanoikuyae, of Yano Ikuya, named in honor of Professor Ikuya Yano, the Japanese bacteriologist who first recognized the second major spot of alkaline-stable glycolipid (SGL-1', now known as galacturonosyl ceramide) on TLC.
