Etymology: ni.gri.pul.chri.tu.do. L. masc. adj. niger, black; L. fem. n. pulchritudo, a beauty; N.L. fem. n. nigripulchritudo, a black beauty, which refers to its striking blue-black colonies (nominative in apposition)
