Etymology: ca.ba.nil.la’si.i. N.L. gen. masc. n. cabanillasii, of Cabanillas, in honour of H. E. Cabanillas, who described the nematode host of this bacterium, Steinernema riobrave (Cabanillas et al., 1994)
