🙋 This subspecies could be automatically created (rule 40d) by the valid publication of Clavibacterxyli subsp. cynodontis Davis et al. 1984 but an explicit description was also provided.Publication:

❗ Clavibacterxyli subsp. xyli is the correct name instead if this subspecies is regarded as a separate subspecies (i.e., if its nomenclatural type is not assigned to another subspecies whose name is validly published, legitimate and not rejected and has priority) within a separate species Clavibacterxyli within a separate genus Clavibacter.

🧍 The type strain (L1A = NCPPB 3152 = PDDCC 7127 = ATCC 33974= LMG 7352) of Clavibacter xyli subsp. xyli Davis et al. 1984 is no more available from the authors of the species, the NCPPB, the ICMP (= the PDDCC), the ATCC, and the LMG (ICMP website, Living Culture Search, November 17, 2010). In the opinion of Suzuki et al. 1999 [1], the subspecies Clavibacter xyli subsp. xyli automatically lost the taxonomic status. However this opinion is not sustained by the Bacteriological Code (1990 Revision) and the matter should be referred to the Judicial Commission [2].Publication:
