Jelínková and Köhler suggested that Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. dysgalactiae and Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis should be regarded as separate species on clinical and epidemiological grounds. Current taxonomic evidence did not appear to support this view, although these streptococci are generally regarded as distinct species by clinical microbiologists.Publication:
