🧍 Lanoot et al. are of the opinion that Streptomyces albosporeus subsp. albosporeus (Krainsky 1914) Okami et al. 1963 (Approved Lists 1980) is a later heterotypic synonym of Streptomyces aurantiacus (Rossi Doria 1891) Waksman 1953 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Lanoot et al. 2002. The type of the subspecies Streptomyces albosporeus subsp. albosporeus is automatically the type of Streptomyces albosporeus (Krainsky 1914) Waksman and Henrici 1948 (Approved Lists 1980). In expressing that opinion Lanoot et al. have placed the type of Streptomyces albosporeus in a different species. In this case Rule 37a (1) applies and the authors should have dealt with the nomenclature and taxonomic position of Streptomyces albosporeus subsp. labilomyceticus Okami et al. 1963 (Approved Lists 1980). Authors who follow the proposal to treat the types of Streptomyces aurantiacus and Streptomyces albosporeus (including the subspecies Streptomyces albosporeus subsp. albosporeus) as synonyms are not at liberty to use the name Streptomyces albosporeus subsp. labilomyceticus and must make a taxonomic proposal for placing this subspecies in another species or subspecies.Publication:
