Subspecies and species names using Group C adjectives
Epithets of species or subspecies can be formed from simple or compound Latin or Neolatin adjectives [Rule 12c (1), Rule 13b]. Group C adjectives are of Greek origin and declined in an unusual way. Their ending is the same for all genders. One part of the species and subspecies names found in LPSN and derived in that manner are shown here, arranged according to the stem of the adjective.See also the LPSN introductory page on forming names.
In the case of a ☞ new combination these epithets must not be adapted to the gender of the genus name.
