Silva (1980) notes that as circumscribed in the Index Nominum Genericorum, this family includes Dermocarpella, which is the type of Dermocarpellaceae T. Christensen 1978.Publication:
Silva PC. Names of classes and families of living algae with special reference to their use in the Index Nominum Genericorum (Plantarum). Bohn, Scheltema & Holkema, Utrecht, 1980.
