Etymology: zo.o.hel.cum. Gr. neut. n. zôon, an animal; Gr. neut. n. helkos, a wound; N.L. gen. neut. pl. n. zoohelcum, of animal wounds, because strains are isolated from cat and dog bites and scratches [probably better: zoohelcorum]
