🧍 Dr. Y. Kosako checked the 16S rDNA sequence of Photobacterium aplysiae JCM 12948 and found the sequence of the JCM strain to be quite different from that of AY781193 (the sequence which was deposited in the DNA Data Bank). Dr. Y. Kosako raised with Dr. Lee of KCTC this discrepancy concerning the 16S rDNA sequence of Photobacterium aplysiae. Dr. Lee repeated the experiment and obtained the same results as Y. Kosako. Dr. Y. Kosako asked Dr. Kim, the depositor of the original strain for a replacement culture. Dr. Kim stated that he had deposited the wrong strain in both culture collections and that GMD 509 was no longer available due to a freezer breakdown. Thus, Photobacterium aplysiae is without a type strain and GMD509T is not available from any other source.Publication:
