🧍 Based on phenotypic characterization, Photobacterium damsela subsp. piscicida corrig. (ex Janssen and Surgalla 1968) Gauthier et al. 1995 is more related to Photobacterium angustum Reichelt et al. 1979 (Approved Lists 1980) and Photobacterium leiognathi Boisvert et al. 1967 (Approved Lists 1980) than to Photobacterium damselae subsp. damselae corrig. (Love et al. 1982) Smith et al. 1991 [1]. Because results obtained by phenotypic analyses are not in accordance with those of genotypic analyses performed by Gauthier et al. [2], further studies should be undertaken to unravel the taxonomic position of this taxon [1].Publication:

🧍 Snieszko et al. 1964, placed this bacterium in the genus Pasteurella without a specific designation. The name "Pasteurella piscicida" was later proposed by Janssen and Surgalla 1968. Consequently, the correct citation is Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida corrig. (ex Janssen and Surgalla 1968) Gauthier et al. 1995, not Photobacterium damsela subsp. piscicida (sic) (ex Snieszko et al. 1964) Gauthier et al. 1995, as cited in the paper by Gauthier et al. 1995.Publication:
