Etymology: Gr. masc. n. Aether, Greek god of light (refers to the clear and transparent swarming); N.L. masc. n. bacter, from Gr. neut. n. bakterion, a small rod, stick; N.L. masc. n. Aetherobacter, clear swarming rod.
