Type species: ¤ Alkalimicrobium pacificum Zhang et al. 2015.
Etymology: N.L. n. alkali (from Arabic article al, the; Arabic n. qaliy, ashes of saltwort), alkali; N.L. neut. n. microbium (from Gr. adj. mikros, small; and Gr. masc. n. bios, life), a microbe; N.L. neut. n. alkalimicrobium, a small microbe loving alkaline conditions.
