Etymology: L. adj. aquaticus, of the water; L. fem. n. talea, a rod; N.L. fem. n. Aquaticitalea, a rod from the water, i.e., isolated from seawater.

Etymology: Gr. n. lipos, fat; N.L. fem. adj. lytica, from Gr. fem. adj. lytikê able to dissolve; N.L. fem. adj. lipolytica, fat-dissolving, referring to the property of being able to hydrolyse lipids.
