Etymology: L. fem. n. aqua, water; L. masc. n. habitans, an inhabitant; N.L. masc. n. aquihabitans, an inhabitant of freshwater.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. daechungensis, pertaining to Daechung Reservoir, where the type strain was isolated.
