Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Clostridium, a bacterial genus; L. suff. -oides (from Gr. suff. -eides, from Gr. n. eidos, that which is seen, form, shape, figure), resembling, similar; N.L. neut. n. Clostridioides, organism similar to Clostridium.
