Type species: ¤ Diaminobutyricibacter tongyongensis Kim et al. 2014.
Etymology: N.L. n. acidum diaminobutyricum, DAB; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Diaminobutyricibacter, a rod with DAB-containing peptidoglycan.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. tongyongensis, refering to the Tongyong region where the type strain was isolated.
