Etymology: L. neut. n. ferrum, iron; N.L. neut. suff. genium, from Gr. v. gennaô, to produce, engender; N.L. neut. n. Ferrigenium, ferric iron producer).

Etymology: N.L. masc. gen. n. kumadai, named after a Japanese soil scientist Kyoichi Kumada, in honour of his pioneering research on iron dynamics in paddy field soil.
