Etymology: L. masc. n. Gallus, cock and a scientific generic name of poultry; N.L. fem. n. Scardovia, a bacterial generic name; N.L. fem. n. Galliscardovia, organism related to scardovial genera isolated from a laying hen (Gallus gallus f. domestica).
